A Living Monument
Boudhanath is one of the largest stupas in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, ringed by monasteries and Tibetan Buddhist community life. At dusk, pilgrims circle the stupa clockwise, spinning prayer wheels and chanting mantras beneath fluttering prayer flags.
Visiting Tips
Arrive in the late afternoon to join the evening kora (circumambulation), then settle into one of the rooftop cafes ringing the plaza for the best view of the stupa lit up after dark.
